Third Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest Party!

We combined the Pumpkin Carving Contest Party with Kaydie's First Birthday...Kaydie helped set up...
This is her favorite way to help: it's FUN to vaccuum!
We started carving while it was still light outside - and we couldn't have asked for better weather. It was nice and warm...
The hardest part is picking out the stencil (or designing the face if you are going to free style)
Mom and Penny caught up over a glass of wine and a pumpkin!
Hooray! We all got to see eachother again! Hi Sheena, Tasha, and Aubrey!
Vanesa and David totally spied on RM's mad carving skills, then helped Rickson out with his pumpkin - which won a BK prize!
"Sabrina Scissorhands" hard at work:
Makena, Nick and Matthew - marvelous jobs on their pumpkins. Both Makena and Matthew won awards for their jackolanterns!
Andy and Aubrey want to help tooooo!
CHEESE! Eric carved an aweomely hard design into his pumpkin (on a dare from me, of course).
Tia, Penny, and Cal keep an eye on mom's pumpkin...
Kaydie loved the commotion - the sounds, the people, the lights... and especially the attention!
A very fine lineup...
Great work everybody!!
Time to open presents, Kaydie!
All that practice paid off - Kaydie is an expert gift opener!
Check out that technique!
Time for birthday cake!
Makena, Matthew and Rickson all helped Kaydie to blow out her candle! I did not pre-practice this part with Kaydie and was amazed when she actually pursed her lips and tried to blow the candle out... this girl is TOO SMART.
She enjoyed her cupcake (Uncle Pete made sure she ate a LOT, and Grandma Connie fed her bites of cake too... luckily, Kaydie didn't have a problem with the sugar rush)
Yum!
Mommy stole some birthday kisses!
