The 5 week smile....

Here's the quilt that Great Grandma made for Kaydie - we've named the little girl Molly. Kaydie and I count the butterflies and laugh together!

Watch Kaydie's new grin - sometimes she gets the giggles too...

Thanksgiving at Nana and Papa's House

Basically, I spent Thanksgiving like any other day... being held, being changed, and being fed! Oh, and sleeping of course!
I mostly got to bond with Uncle Dave, Aunt Tracy, Aunt Toni and Uncle Pete.
I gave mom and dad a break from holding me for most of the day
(I'm very thoughtful like that!)

All of our baking paid off - the kids devoured the cookies and the coffee cake wreath, and the grown ups enjoyed the spice cake and the pies. Mom said dinner tasted great - there was turkey, ham, veggies, ravioli and meat sauce, and clams with pasta, and one of the best antepastas ever!

My First Holiday Photo Shoot!

Pictures are the worst part of the Holidays for a baby... mom and dad dressed me up in this incredibly uncomfortable outfit, then they expect me to look happy about it as they pose me in strange and somewhat absurd positions for the camera. But, me being the best baby ever, I chose to hope that if I cooperated and didn't cry that the whole ordeal would end more quickly. Mommy did not disappoint! We wrapped up the photo shoot in less than 5 minutes! (and she only made me wear the outfit for a few hours - gotta hand it to her, she does love and look out for me!)

Gosh I'm cute with these big chubby cheeks... I know you all want to reach out and pinch them (don't try though - this is a picture on your computer, you know!)
Look at how proud mom is of me! I'm cute from all angles!
This is my contemplative pose... I'm deep in thought
(I'll let you guess what I'm thinking about, I'm not about to tell you!) You can't see it, but mom is torturing me again (aka: tickling my tootsies!)

Dad takes a quick picture - our outfits match!Go ahead, oooh and ahhhh... I know I'm cute!

Mommy calls me her mini-me!
Dad calls me his Cutie Kaydie!
Bye for now! Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!

11-19-07 to 11-23-07

I just found out that I have a tongue! Want to see?
Are you ready??? Ta Da!
Mom took me to work to show me off to all of her friends
(she was pretty busy talking so she forgot to take a lot of pictures!)

Hope with Kaydie Rose

Four Weeks...

Kaydie Rose is making eye contact with me, as of her four week birthday... It feels like we are finally seeing each other for the first time, and every time we gaze into oneanother's eyes, we both break out into huge grins.

We stayed up all night baking last night - walnut pies, cookies of all sorts, apple pie, and spice cake... we're taking our time this morning before we begin baking again this afternoon (Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and I'm in charge of desserts!).

11-14-07 to 11-19-07

Kaydie Rose is staying awake for much longer each day - here she opens her eyes and looks around for the first time while out on a walk with mommy. Her eyes are a beautiful slate blue.

On this trip, she wouldn't take her eyes off of my face, I kept telling her, "Kaydie Rose, look around - see the birds and the trees! You get to look at mommy all day long..."
She gets a little bit fidgety when I don't push her fast enough, or take a water break... Her arms start flailing around and she grunts, and if she could talk I know she'd be urging me onward with no more delays!
She's actually beginning to take the pacifier from mommy!

Tom found us passed out cold and snapped a quick picture to prove that I did get some sleep today!
Kaydie is channeling Cartman when he tries out for the olympics... (Southpark reference)
Tom scratches his head in consternation at what else he can try to keep Kaydie Rose happy and quiet for a few moments...
It looks like it's working...
JUST KIDDING!
One of my favorite faces that she makes.... Adorable cheerio pucker!

Bonding moments... makes all those sleepless nights okay...
Tom gets to bond too...

Snoozing in the carseat...

Met up with Tom for lunch at Peppery's in Sonora...Kaydie slept right through lunch! When we got back to Tom's work, she was introduced to the crew. Everyone said she was adorable (of course!)

Happy Third Week Birthday Kaydie!

Three weeks - they are flying by so quickly. Kaydie has already outgrown expressions and noises... some of which weren't captured by camera. For example, she used to have this routine right before she nursed, where she'd play coy and turn up her nose to the meal laid out before her. She would roll her head back and make a tight little rosebud mouth and look down her nose at the offending breast... then, after she rolled her mouth across it a few times, she would break down and nurse like she'd never eat again... Here is Kaydie and mommy, catching the morning sunshine in our front yard. She's going through a growth spurt and is getting a little bit vocal about it lately... but here we are peaceful, happy, and calm for a photo shoot. The sunshine is a little bright - we'll only be out in it for a few minutes, then it is back to filtered light for Kaydie Rose's delicate skin...
Such a cute little mouth - I'm looking forward when she gives kisses back!

Her fingers - so slender and long when she was born - have filled out and look healthy. She is incredibly strong. Yesterday, we went to her pediatrician appointment, and the nurse helped to put her hand and footprints in ink in her baby book... she was too strong for three people to get a right hand print... we had to settle for the two feet and the left hand... When I looked back at my babybook, I found that I gave my mom the same challenge and there was no right hand print there either - just a note reading, "You got mad!!!"

Kaydie Rose with her pacifier - This is the norm!!!!

She must know how perfect she is...
