Visit with Dr. Nguyen

Today I went in to see Dr. Nguyen - he says I'm very pretty! And, even better, I'm healthy! I measured in at 26 1/4 inches long, and 18.7 lbs... mom gets to start me on some baby food over the next few weeks, which will be exciting!
I also got my second set of shots (most of them - I still need to go back for one more, maybe next week). I did really really well - I only cried for about 30 seconds when the nurse gave me the shot, then mom gave me some baby tylenol and I napped all the way home.

Playdate with Gavin

Mom took me down to Elk Grove to play with Steve's baby boy, Gavin. He's two weeks older than me All loaded up in Steve's Truck - headed out to lunch and the park to feed the ducks!

We both pretty much snoozed thru lunch and the park - the fresh air and sunshine were just too relaxing!! Made it back to Steve's house, ate, and then played with Gavin!

I really liked playing with Gavin's toys!

Gavin was pretty cool too. He likes to roll on the ground like I do!

I had a lot of fun looking into this mirror...

Very Romper Room....

looking cute!

Here I am discussing the election issues Kenya is facing as I fall to sleep... I'm 4 months old... Tia spent lots of time celebrating today with me. Mom made everyone else sausage and peppers and I didn't get ANY. She says maybe next month...
Whatchulookinat?
Hey, what are these things on your face? They taste... salty!
Are you sure you need them back in one piece?

Well, if you ever get tired of them, bring em on back to me!!

(P)laying around

My cousin Gabe does a great job pushing my stroller! (Mom only lets him push on the flat parts though...) More pictures, Mom? Can't I just take a nap like normal babies do?
Here's my toys - they help me fall asleep...
Some tummy time- I'm starting to get really good at rolling around!
Mom! The Camera? Again? GOSH!

Hiking behind Hogan Reservoir

Tom and I took advantage of the warm weather to get outside and absorb the sunshine. We followed a creek upstream, looking for promising gold panning spots for next weekend's gold hunting expedition.

Kaydie hopped into her backpack, and we headed out.

We somehow ended up on two different sides of the creek... okay, I was chicken about getting my feet wet so early on in the hike!
I noticed Kaydie's cheek resting on the side of the backpack as she took a quick catnap. Quick photo before I pulled out a blanky to prop her back so she could rest more comfortably...
The bottom of the creek still shows signs of last summer's baking heat
I asked Tom what this shape looked like and he said, "a pelvis"
This is a tiny side creek that we found... very pretty! But not as pretty as Kaydie Rose!
She definitely enjoyed being outside today.Mini Waterfall

She napped on the way back (after her lunch) very comfortably

So much sun in February!

Mom and me are feeling better (getting over the flu) so we took advantage of the sunshine to go for a walk over to the pond.
It's very pretty
Hi Mom!
Dad and Uncle Pete worked on the yard today - look at how pretty and green the grass is!

Reading time with... Daddy?

Yep, you heard it here first folks! Tom and Kaydie love reading together! Kaydie would reach up and touch the book - which was built with sensory touch spots for babies.
She really got into it!
Dad's looking forward to reading time tomorrow too!

mommy updates

Kaydie is growing up SO fast it hurts me to see it. She's incredible. I can't believe she sleeps in her crib, she hollars MMMMMMOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM at me as she fights her naps... it's just a matter of weeks before she refines that into my name! She can roll over, (she rolled over the first time on February 4th for Dad - from her tummy to her back). She's got really impressive control of her hands - she sees what she wants and reaches right out to it with both hands - on target. She was enthralled with the baby face in the mirror. She loves to touch faces - feeling beards, chins, noses, she pulls my hair when she hugs me tight as we rock eachother to sleep at night. She pinches the soft underside of my arm as she nurses (OUCH!) She loves sitting in her swing and listening to me practice the piano. When I am playing well, she'll sing along - and when I can, I look over and grin at her - and she grins right back! It's wonderful. She definitely knows that I'm her mommy, she makes it clear to Tom that he is NOT the mommy.

We are just getting on the mend from the flu. Tom and Kaydie came down with it on Tuesday and I followed on Wednesday. The last three nights have been reminiscent of the first week she was home - sleepless for mommy! It's heartwrenching to hear her struggle to breathe due to the congestion and to hear her cough. I figured it was best to go ahead and pick her up each time she had a coughing fit so that her head was up to avoid choking, plus she would usually start to cry afterwards anyhow - and if I could eliminate the tears, it greatly decreased the amount of fluids draining out of her poor nose. I think my arm muscles are stronger now than they have EVER been... I'm really glad that she is starting to feel better, it will be so lovely to sleep again.

Hard to keep up with the runny nose...

Here's mommy's little sicky-poo~

GINGERBREAD HOUSE BUILDING COMPETITION:

Gabe, Toni & Pete built an AWESOME gingerbread house. It was called the Animal House and it was a farm complete with barnyard animals, fields of veggies and fruits in rows, and a monkey on the door. Great job!!! This one tied for first place! Todd, Dave and Tracy put together an imaculate presentation - the attention to detail was superb. A better quality gingerbread home could not exist! Great work on tying for first place!
Second place was taken by Alex, Alan, & Robbie: they got creative and built a gingerbread with a deck and put extensive work into the river and bridge exterior. If they would have had a bit more time, they would have 'prettified' up the entire house!Brad, Jessica, Amber & Eric used a slightly larger gingerbread house kit for theirs, which meant that the judge (me) had to expect bigger and better things from their entry. They did a great job and tied for third place due to the incredible amounts of candy that they got to stick to the house!
Pat, Paul and Tom tied for third - They presented us with "the bunny ranch" which was reminiscent of easter. Very cute- except that their foundation cracked and the house started to slide in two directions before judging!!! oops!

PICTURES OF THE LAKE:

My favorite picture of Lake Tahoe...
